Благодаря усилиям группы «Артефакты» и волонтёров, Ракету удалось очистить, отреставрировать, покрасить в первоначальный цвет и покрыть антивандальным лаком.
Проект «Сквер Ракета» — продолжение инициативы по восстановлению историко-архитектурного памятника, символизирующего космос, познание мира и рождение Протвино.
Восстановление объекта стало возможным благодаря поддержке администрации города, сотрудников и строителей реконструкции КДЦ «Протон», Комбината благоустройства, ООО «Аэлита» и проекта «Созидание 1/365».

Всё началось весной...
В то же время активисты группы «Артефакты», объединённой любовью к историческому и архитектурному наследию Протвино, взялись за дело своими руками. Стас Галицкий, участник группы, начал создавать новый бетонный шар, тщательно подбирая материалы и технологии.

Одновременно с этим в администрации происходили кадровые перестановки, что и создало коммуникационный разрыв между жителями и муниципальными служащими. Но когда инициативу «Артефактов» удалось донести до заместителя главы Городского округа Серпухов Оксаны Александровны Лебедевой, инициатива получила уверенную поддержку. До этого она была поддержана отделом капитального строительства в лице Виталия Самойлова, который дал средства на закупку цемента. А после согласования на уровне замглавы очень помогла заместитель директора МКУ «Территориальное управление Администрации г. о. Серпухов» Олеся Логинова: с её помощью была привлечена компания ООО «Аэлита», которая профессионально очистила поверхность Ракеты пескоструйной обработкой, сняв старую краску и подготовив памятник к реставрации.
Тем временем активисты завершили изготовление нового бетонного шара и ждали, пока он окончательно высохнет и будет готов к монтажу.

Весна 2024 года стала для жителей Протвино временем настоящего пробуждения: внимание горожан привлекла трещина на знаменитом бетонном шаре спутника, венчающем сквер «Ракета». Часть шара откололась, и это казалось не просто мелким повреждением — символ нашего города, его связь с космосом и стремлением к знаниям оказались под угрозой.
Поначалу жители обратились в муниципалитет через платформу «Добродел» с просьбой починить шар. Но оказалось, что стандартные административные процедуры и готовые решения не подходят для такой уникальной задачи. Восстановить оригинальный бетонный шар оказалось сложнее, чем думалось: нужны были специальные материалы и точное мастерство. Муниципалитет предложил заменить шар металлическим конусом.
